Civilian Golf Pass Program You don’t have to be in the military to tee off at Sheppard’s Wind Creek Golf Course. The 18-hole course is open to civilians not affiliated with Sheppard, despite rumors to the contrary. Course Superintendent, Dean Moore, says one thing led to another, and
approximately five years ago the base began the civilian golf pass program. “We feel the course is as good, if not better than any of the local courses,” said Moore. He emphasized that many people
are unaware the course is open to the general public. “People just don’t know about it,” said Moore. “There are four sets of tee-boxes, so you can play simple or play hard. There’s a level of play for
everyone.” To obtain a pass, civilians need to complete the online form, golfers can fax or e-mail it in. After a background check is completed, golfers may obtain a pass at the Missile Road Visitor’s Center. Golfers with a civilian golf pass and a valid driver’s license can access the course through Sheppard’s Main Gate at any time during course hours.
“The Grill, Pro-Shop, and 24-hour driving range are also open to all,” the Grill at the clubhouse serves breakfast and lunch, and even has free Wi-Fi access. The Pro Shop has plenty of name
brand supplies, as well as professional equipment servicing.
