wichita falls texas

The name Wichita is derived from the Choctaw word "wia chitoh" meaning "big arbor," a description of their large grass-thatched arbors and beehive-shaped houses. During the late 1700's, Comanches and Apaches also lived in the area. All three tribes remained in the area until the 1830's. The city gained its name from a Wichita Indian encampment near a small waterfall along the Wichita River.

Extended Duty Child Care program available for:

On base mission related duty, extended duty days, temporaty shift changes, rapid mobilization or deployment. Do you occasionally need more child care than your current child care arrangement provide? Do you need weekend or evening care beyond your standard 50 hour child care week? Do you have children 6 weeks-12 years of age? Have you had a temporary shift change? Are you active duty, reserve or guard on active duty or DoD civilian employee? The Family Child Care program offers an Extended Child Care home that is experiences, licensed,  inspected and in compliance with AFI 34-276.  Contact the FCC office, 851-6151 for more information
