Remember, there is no need to wait until the New Year to make a resolution, some of us still need to make good on the ones we made for this year. Veterans Day is an important day when we honor those who have fought and served our country. In 2005 our Sheppard AFB honor guard presided at over 200 veteran funerals, paying final respects to those who came before us. These fine men and women are a cross section of today’s military and are vital reminders of what our veterans spent their entire lives and careers fighting for. Our military is a blend of every ethnic group and religion. They serve side by side taking care of not only the citizens of the United States but other countries as well, wherever they are stationed. It is fitting we pause, remember, and thank those who gave so much for what we have. Please go out of your way this month to thank someone for the lifestyle we now live.

It is so fitting for us to celebrate our nation’s heritage and remember long standing traditions. One of those holidays which still invoke childhood memories for me is Thanksgiving. People from all around the country go out of their way to get home just to spend a wonderful meal, time, and weekend with those who mean so much to them. To get reconnected to our past both as a country and as a family is such a good thing. We earnestly spend time in thought about those closest to us and then open up our kitchens to a fine meal served on our best dinnerware. We as a people go the extra mile for this holiday. We invite others over, we donate to food shelters, and we try to make sure others not as fortunate have a hot meal this day.

There are so many things to be thankful for…our veterans, our families, and our way of life. Have a great November…
